HWY 33 Sports Bar & Grill
Wayside is under new management and a new name- Taken from Aurora/Richland Township Chamber of Commerce FB post
After wonderful interviews with Shika, Owner and Manager, Cedric, a lot was learned about this new business. HWY 33 Sports Bar & Grill (formerly Wayside) is operating as a restaurant for the time being. Their hours are 10 a.m. - 12 a.m. for 6 days a week. Day 7, Sunday, Hwy 33 SB&G will open at noon and will close 12 a.m. The menus will be upgraded but use these copies pictured to call in and order your carry out meal. Aurora Mini Mart gets an update!
Can’t miss the big changes going on over at Aurora Mini Mart! On the outside the building has been painted, new card reading pumps have been installed, a new digital sign displaying gas prices has been installed, along with the new sign logo Aurora Mini Mart, patching of the parking lot and air for your tires!! Looking good!
It’s a quick stop for many locals, workers from Nutrien, fishermen, hunters and visitors to grab a drink or bite to eat or fill up with gas!

Former Family Dollar- New Goodwill is transforming
I’m sure many of you have noticed the work going on at the former Family Dollar. Goodwill Industries is remodeling the building to fit the needs to serve the Richland Township. Right now it appears a lot of asphalt is being excavated, but hold on for the other things coming its way!

Good morning Aurora Richland Township! Your week will begin with absolutely great news that we all have been waiting for. A quote from Dr. McDuffie, CEO of Agape Health Services personally told me that all the necessary paperwork and plans have been finalized and the construction company for the Aurora Project will begin very soon. It was exciting to meet with the Team from Agape and get a tour of what exists inside the building and the vision of things to come. The blueprints were spread across the table and men hard at work making those final decisions. What a super way to end a week and what an awesome way to begin the week for the residents of Aurora Richland Township. THIS IS GREAT NEWS!
Sandhill Ol’ Country Farmers Market
I had the opportunity to stop by Sandhill Ol’ Country Farm Market recently. Faye Gladson, proprietor, has a gem of a place that offers a multitude of provisions. When I walked in she had lima beans on the stove and they smelled delicious!! It is located at 9284 Highway 306 S. The building at one time a church and before that I’m sure it was the corner market for the community of Small. I know someone can tell me!
I have stopped by in the past to acquire fresh eggs, she has a convenient self serve station outside her store but I’m so glad I hit it at the right time as most of the time, I’m traveling up and down Highway 33.
She has a variety of jellies and I came across Mayhaw jelly, who knew it was an actual fruit! I thought it was just another variation of Meemaw- :). Mayhaw fruit is the small, round, reddish fruit of the thorny, deciduous hawthorn tree! The name "mayhaw" comes from its harvest season in May. So I did pick up a jar but haven’t tried it yet.
Also picked up a jar of dilled green beans! Delicious with a kick! They also carry cheese from West Jefferson and meats! You can easily make a delicious meal!
I have included some pictures of the store- it gives a nod to the family business of logging and a favorite pastime- lots of tools and deer mounts!! A big one!! I enjoyed checking out the old license plates!

Humane Society of Beaufort County, NC
Volunteers Needed – Service Hours Available!
The Humane Society of Beaufort County is looking for volunteers to help with our Annual Auction at the Beaufort County Civic Center on Saturday, October 25th.
We have several opportunities available:
Setup Shifts: Help with lifting, moving, and organizing auction items at the Civic Center during the day. Multiple time slots available!
Auction Runners (Night Of): Assist with item pickup and help keep things running smoothly during the event.
Date: Saturday, October 25th
Location: Washington Civic Center
This is a great way to give back to the community and earn service hours for students that may need them!

Together we can make this event a huge success for the animals! Volunteer a couple of hours for that day, make a big difference of a lifetime for many animals in our area!
